Busquets has confirmed that he will retire from professional football at the conclusion of the 2025 MLS season with Inter Miami. The Catalan giants also honoured Busquets, writing on social media: “The Club of your life. A legend at our Club. Thanks for all the football, Sergio!” His career at Barca saw him form the backbone of the midfield alongside Xavi and Andres Iniesta, contributing to one of the most successful eras in the club’s history. His move to Inter Miami in 2023 reunited him with Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez, where he continued to add silverware, including the 2023 Leagues Cup and 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
